My new Mac!

It was a battle (and a dent in the Visa), but I'm finally sitting in front of my brand-new 24" iMac! Well worth the time and investment though!

It all started when I went to the Apple store last Tuesday. After calling my brother (who has the exact same Mac), I knew exactly what I wanted so I paid for it that day and gave them my old computer to transfer my files (music, photos, etc) into my new one. They told me it would take two days, but it ended up taking three days. That's fine. I can live without a computer for three days. It was difficult, I'll admit.

I had an appointment yesterday at six to pick it up and they had a little workshop to teach me some of the basics. The Apple Store is part of Village Pointe, an outdoor plaza with other shops and a movie store and being it was six on a Friday, I could NOT find a place to park. I had to park behind the movie theater.

There was a couple in their sixties also at the workshop. It was kinda funny because they had a little 13" Macbook laptop and our "teacher", a Harry Potter look alike named Matt brings out my computer and it looks like it could eat their little Macbook! LOL, it was kinda embarrassing!

Right away I noticed a problem when Matt has up click on iTunes and shows us how to make a playlist. (Please! I already know how to do that!) There's only 500 songs listed and I SHOULD have 5000. I point this out to Matt and he says they'll fix that at the end of the session. He tells me it should only take "a few minutes," but it ended up taking three friggin' hours because I have TV shows on my iPod and that's what took it so long. So I kill the time by using one of their computers and doing quizzes on Facebook. I also played a Lego Star Wars game which became boring after ten minutes. I did get a ten percent off discount card for "waiting patiently," though. (Oh, I love how my new Mac underlines misspelled words!)

It's nearly 9:30 and some other guy (Matt has already left) tells me my new Mac is almost ready and asks me if I'm parked nearby. Yeah, right. I tell him I'm not, but I'll get my car and find a parking space nearby. I'm wearing jeans and a t-shirt because it was sunny when I came, but now it's dark and rainy, no it's POURING! I have no umbrella, so I'm getting drenched in rain. To make matters worse, I can't remember which side of the movie theater I parked next to and a movie just got out so there are people and cars everywhere and it's a MESS! Finally, I do manage to find my car and drive up to the Apple store, where, miraculously, a car is pulling out right in front of the store, so I take its spot.

My car is a bit on the small side, but we manage to get my old PC and new Mac inside. I live on the second floor, so I had to lug up this 25 lb (I think) box up the steps, but once inside I had no problem setting it up. However, I did have problems getting online even though everything was plugged in (I double checked), so I call my brother and he tries to help me, but it's no success so finally I tell him I'll just call the cable company on Monday. I'll be without Internet for two more days, no big deal. (Although, inside I'm dying). I use my new DVD player and watch an episode of Weeds. After that, I check to see if my Internet is working...and by some force of nature, it is! So everything is good in the world again! Now all I have to do is make sure I can get my printer to work when I need it.

But... I love my new iMac! It is so friggin' cool!
