United States. Canada. Australia. No matter which country, you gotta love Next Top Model. Except for Britain. For some reason, the UK's version bores me to tears. I think it's because none of those girls brings the drama like the Americans, Canadians, and the Aussies.

Let's meet the Aussie hamsters )

In one especially entertaining episode the girls had to do a commercial for a tampon brand. And they had a prop of a stuffed animal of a beaver because a beaver represents a "woman's compartment" as Alyce so delicately put it. Oh dear God. You could not pay me enough money to act in a tampon commerical and saying stuff like "How do you keep fresh down there?" while holding a freaking beaver puppet of all things. Hell no.

Dehellza, Sam, and Alex get to go overseas to New York (so much better and fashionable than L.A., where they went last year) and Napoleon Perdis, the fat little oompa loompa makes another apperance in his NYC apartment. This guy has a home in Sydney, L.A., NYC and he's always popping up wherever they go. In NYC they walk in a fashin show for Malan, that guy fron Project Runway.

OMG and I cannot wait...there's going to be Project Runway...wait for it....AUSTRALIA! I hope to god they have it on YouTube. And they better show the fifth season of PR on youtube as well. I will be in heaven!

About a year ago, I started to watch cycle 1 of Canada's Next Top Model on YouTube, but I got kinda bored halfway through, so I stopped watching. Then, about a couple weeks ago, I found C2 and watched that and got so addicted to it, that I finished it in about four days. Then I went back and finished C1. Obviously, I liked C2 better. Let me tell you why.

It's their turn now! )

It's time for Round 3

I recently found out that the latest season of Australia's Next Top Model was uploaded on YouTube, so of course I had to watch it. And as always, the show delivered. It had it all: snark, bitchiness, crying, fugly clothes, and, of course, modeling.

Do you have complexion perfection? )

All right, I feel like I'm missing a million things, but that's all I have for now. If I think of more, I'll come back and edit.

"We're going to Australia! I've never been overseas! I've only been to the ghetto and around the block!"

Okay, I'm paraphrasing that Jaslene quote, but I laughed so hard when she said that.

YAY!!! The girls finally went to Australia. When Tyra announced that I thought, "I wonder if Erika Heynatz will make an apperance..." and there was Erika to greet them in Sydney. BTW, why did Tyra introduce her as the "original" host of AuNTM? Does that show have a new host now?

I felt sorry for that kangaroo when all the girls started screaming and jumping around. Poor thing! :-(

Dionne saying "That's cool, that's cool" at the end of every sentence during her interviews was hilarious.

And oddly enough, I can understand Jael a lot better when she's speaking with a (crappy) Aussie accent instead of her real voice!

Also, in American Idol news...wait for it... )

Cycle 2 of ANTM

I didn't start watching America's Next Top Model until Cycle 3 and only the first season has been on DVD, so luckily I found Cycle 2 on YouTube. (Even if it did have Chinese subtitles). C2 was deliciously bitchy and even a bit scandalous. Come, and join me as I recap the season and evaluate the hamsters. And of course, the horror that is Tyra trying out a new profession: singing.

Those bitches! )

Britain's Next Top Model

So I recently watched Britian's Next Top Model and it didn't have nearly enough of the snark factor that the American or Australian versions do. The host, Lisa Butcher, is by far the worse of the Top Model hosts. She was just so wooden. And her commentary was so...monotonous. For instance, Tyra would say something like, "Next time on America's Next Top Model.....the girls get a FRESH new FIERCE look! There are LOTS of tears! ::snappy fingers:::: And CHAOS happens when Monique pisses off the girls!" Whereas Lisa would say in the same tone: "Next time on Britain's Next Top Model....the girls get new looks. Anne isn't happy with hers." [Tyra]Do you see the difference?[/Tyra]

I mostly just listened to the episodes while doing other stuff online instead of watching them, because they weren't that interesting to me. The girls not only got to go to Paris, but also Milan. Lucky bitches! Most of the girls were pretty meh for the most part. I liked a couple of them more than others, but there were really no straightout bitches.

Photoshoots included close ups of the girls wearing Acuvue contacts, posing with a frog dressed as princesses, posing in the cold in summery dresses on the Isle of....somewhere, posing naked with a guy(!), and wearing DKNY. They also have to act in a mock commecial where they're in a shower and have to turn, cover their boobies, hold out some bottle of shampoo, and say, "You gotta buy it to try it!" Apparently the water is freezing cold.

My assessment of some of the girls )

Australia's Next Top Model

So after watching season 2 of Australia's Next Top Model on YouTube, I quickly devoured season 1. As a whole, I liked the girls from S1 lot better than the girls from S2. While there was still swearing, they didn't swear every fucking other fucking word like the fucking girls from fucking S2 fucking had to do all the fucking time! So they weren't as crass, so (some) of the girls from S1 could actually be Cover Girls!

Commentary! Whoooooooooo-OOOOOOOOO! )

I recently finished watching season 2 of Australia's Next Top Model on YouTube. There are a lot of similarities to the American version, such as:

- Whenever the girls receive "Erika mail" they scream like banshees.

- The panel of judges include Erika Heynatz and three other people who are (obviously) in the fashion biz and there's a guest judge every week.

- The list of prizes is basically the same. They get a contract with some modeling agency and they get a spread in Cleo magazine.

-Before the judging, there's a little challenge the girls have to perform to se how much they've learned that week.

-The girls bitch and whine about their makeovers.

Now I'm off to watch Season 1 of AuNTM. (Yes, I realize I'm watching them out of order!)

Loved the photo shoot tonight with the girls posing as celebrity couples. Poor Brooke had to dress like K-Fart...love how her boxers are showing. The picture doesn't make any sense because Britney dancing with the snake was pre K-Fud. (Ah, happier times for all of us). I think they should've given Brooke Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillipe instead. She has a very Reese-ish look to her.

Michelle's Ellen DeGeneres was almost uncanny! Now if she had started doing the Lindsay Bluth chicken dance (cha-chi, cha-chi, cha-chi cha!) when she was dressed as Portdi de Rossi, I would have loved her forever. Because? That is so what I would've done.

Melrose still annoys me, but damn if I didn't love her Donald Trump. LMAO!

Anchal doesn't know what POV stands for?! YIKES! Of course, I've seen her MySpace and I'm not suprirsed. [insert eyeroll]

ANTM makeover commentary

Heath and Jake
As promised, here are my thoughts about the hamster's makeovers.

ANTM C7 Makeovers )

So, I've been watching Studio Sixty on the Sunset Strip (Aaron Sorkin sure loves alliteration, doesn't he?) I haven't exactly warmed up to the show yet, but there's something that's kinda bugging me about it. SSotSS )

So I watched Friday Night Lights last Tuesday, mainly for Kyle Chandler, and I don't think I'll continue to watch it. Too bad they couldn't make a spinoff of Seattle's Bomb Squad, that would have been a better show, but since he became pink mist, excuse me, Mcpink mist, that idea isn't gonna ever happen! I was rolling my eyes at this scene )

Was I the only one who was kinda bored with the Lost third season premiere? Probably because we were only shown the "Main 3" and I find two out of the three to be really boring (and I'll give you a hint, their names don't start with the letter "S".) I hope it picks up soon. I'm not sure if I'm liking this Others storyline. I miss my Season 1!

ANTM makeovers

Michael Bluth Oh please not now
The second episode of ANTM is always one of my favorites because of the [Oprah Voice]MAKEOVERS!!![/OV] I still can't believe that the girls are bitching about it, though! Haven't they seen the show! They KNOW they are going to get makeovers, so STFU! I have to say I agree with OrangeJay that the girls should just stop whining and they have to deal with it. Plus, for the most part, they all look better anyway. They don't have any photos up yet on the site, but when they do I'll post them along with my thoughts.

Okay, this is completely random, but did anyone watch Heroes on Monday night? So far it looks good, and I'll be watching, but I think Claire's (the cheerleader) mom is a Harry Potter fan. Her dog's name is Mr. Muggles! Bwahahaha.

ANTM Cycle 7

Okay, I know there's only been one (two hour) episode so far, but that doesn't mean I can't start hating the hamsters!

First of all, I don't think the twins (Amanda and Michelle) are that pretty. Their features are too rodent-like for me and they only got into the house because they're twins. If it had been one girl, she wouldn't have made it, but they want the drama of having TWINS! OMG!

Looks like the token black bitch this cycle is going to be Monique. Pouring water on someone else's bed to claim it as your own is so juvenile. I could totally see her pouring somebody's Red Bull down the sink!

Anchal reminds me of a real- life Jasmine from Aladdin.

I admit, Megan's story touched me, but that's not the reason I'm rooting for her. She has striking features and seems nice (so far!)

As for the rest, I don't have an opinion yet.

Evidently elephants are dinosaurs

Since Alias and The Amazing Race are both on at 8/7 central on Wednesdays, I have to watch America's Next Top Model the next following Tuesday.

Could Jade BE any more obnoxious and stupid? I love how she said that Joanie wasn't on her level TWICE during the show. Damn right, Jade. Joanie is way up above your level. And did she actually say that elephants are part of the dinosaur family? Seriously, what the fuck? Jade reminds me of Robin from C1. Robin was also 26 when she was on the show and she was obnoxious and delusional as Jade and only kept around for the drama value. Jade needs to fade!
