Mom and Dad got a new car - it's a Nissian something. Um, I don't know anything about cars. Anyway it's Jeep like and we drove it to Colorado where we met Bill in Denver and picked him up at the airport, then we continued on to Copper Mountain. We got there late on Wednesday. We tried to get our skiing gear, but the place closed at five, and it was like, 5:05, so instead we went out to eat at the Salsa Mountain where they served, you guessed it, Mexican food. They had the best appetizer chips. Not only did you get the usual salsa dip with it, but also a conqueso cheese dip and a guacamole dip. Mmmmm. Guacamole. Guacamole is fun to say. Guacamole! Guacamole! Guacamole! Honestly, I'm not even sure if I'm spelling that right. I had the steak fajitias. They were so good. For some reason our conversation turned to the topic of Catherine Zeta-Jones, I honestly don't remember how that got started, but than I was looking at my fajitias and was thinking about The Zeta Fajitia (hee!) and I told them her nickname and my mom's like, "She is hot!" Oh, Lord.
That evening we used the hottub, which was outside, then came back to the condo where Bill taught us to play Texas Hold 'Em. It's a form of poker where you start with two cards and three cards our laid out on the table after you burn one, you turn the flop over. We played all three nights and I must say I was fairly good. Sure, it took awhile for me to get the gist of it and how the betting worked, but after awhile, I finally learned the general rules and what to do and what not to do. Mom always wanted to see the cards, so she would pay ridiculous amounts to match the bets just so she could see!
We skiied Thursday and Friday. I did most of my falling on Thursday. First time I lost my balance and fell and lost both my skiis. The second incident, I didn't fall, but I started going down the wrong slope, which was a black with moguls. There was also lots of powdery snow and I was trying to get back to the smooth slope by cutting between a small pine tree. Well, the snow was deep there and I had a ski on each side of the tree. I could not lift up my right foot becuase it was so covered with snow. Bill and Dad had to help me get up because I had fallen down, then pull me up. And to make matters worse, there was a ski lift right above us and it had stopped and the people on that particular chair that was right above us could enjoy our little show. Then after we ate lunch and came back for another round of skiing, we went down Rosie's Run, which was "an easy black" according to my idiot brother, I was going so fast that I lost control and fell and slid halfway down the stupid mountain face first with my skiis still on. The slope was so steep that I couldn't stop sliding! After that I got really paranoid and skiied really S-L-O-W. After that day I really wanted to use the hot tub, but it wasn't our day to use it. First, it was broken in the middle of the afternoon, then it was working at night and Bill and I went to change into our suits (we checked it first to make sure it wasn't broken anymore), but when we came back the doors were locked because it closed at ten! Grr! Luckily we were able to use it on Friday.
There were some Aussies who worked the at the ski lifts which I thought was kinda weird since we all know Australia is known for its lovely winter sports. Well, I guess snowboarding is pretty much the same as skiing, only you're doing it on snow instead of water, right? Bill said there was "a ton", but I only noticed two: a guy with a very American voice, so maybe he was just using another guy's nametag (their nametags said where they were from) because he forgot his own, or maybe he has mastered the American accent, and also a girl who had the most adorable, cutest accent. I knew she was an Aussie before I even could read her name tag.
Well, that's pretty much what happened. We drove home Friday morning and now I'm back in boring old life.
